RAI invites applications for Research Fellowships

The Rothermere American Institute invites applications for Research Fellowships.

Applicants will be academics who teach or research US culture, history, literature or politics. They must have a track record of commitment to the intellectual life of the RAI. This can take many forms, including attending and participating in seminars/events and a record of/willingness to contribute to the Institute’s mission of teaching and researching the United States. It is expected that the Research Fellow will continue to be involved in the life of the Institute.

The Institute is unable to offer office space to Research Fellows, but they will have use of the Vere Harmsworth Library and University facilities (including email) for the duration of their Fellowship. The Fellowship is normally awarded for one academic year, although longer Fellowships may be awarded at the Institute’s discretion.

How to apply

Applications should consist of four elements:

  1. A completed Research Fellowship application form.
  2. A cover letter explaining further how the applicant has contributed to the Institute’s teaching and research, and how she/he proposes to contribute in the future.
  3. A letter of support from a member or members of the RAI community (e.g. Oxford postholders in American history, politics, literature, or a related field).
  4. A curriculum vitae.

Applications for Research Fellowships to be held during the 2019/20 academic year should be submitted by noon on Monday 27 May.
