The Rothermere American Institute seeks to appoint an Institute Manager to join our small and committed team and provide critical support to the Director. With an enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work, and a particular ability to plan and prioritise work both for yourself and others, you will have responsibility for managing the Institute’s staff, finances, activities, communications and building. Working closely with the Director, you will also play a key role in the strategic development of all aspects of the Institute’s activities, and will deputise for the Director as needed in welcoming visitors, hosting events, and reporting to committees.
Education to degree level, with an academic background in one of the Institute’s areas of focus (the history, politics and culture of the United States) and/or a strong interest in and ability to engage intellectually with the Institute’s activities is essential, as is experience of managing small and large-scale events, outstanding communication and inter-personal skills, and a high level of numeracy and financial literacy. Experience of running a building, and/or of media and public relations, would be beneficial.
This post is full-time and fixed-term for 3 years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
