Ben Arogundade is the author of the new illustrated book, Obama: 101 Best Covers. It narrates the story of the president’s tenure in office through an eight-year selection of his best front pages from around the world.
In a conversation about portraiture, power and propaganda, Arogundade will present a selection of his favourite covers from the book, alongside ‘Obama vs Trump’, comparing the former leader’s front pages with those of America’s current Commander-in-Chief.
Arogundade is the author of ten books, including his debut novel, The Sexual Language of Strangers and Black Beauty, a cultural history of the black image, which was honoured by the New York Public Library and became the subject of a three-part BBC documentary. He also runs his own publishing imprint, White Labels Books.
The event will be followed by a Q&A, book signing and a wine reception. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at a reduced price of £20.
