Yuan Zhang

Yuan Zhang studies American history and American literature. She researches what happened back in England: the religious and cultural background of 1630 New England migration. Her particular interest is on the people who migrated to New England yet came back to England during the Puritan Revolution. She is an Associate Professor of American Studies at Nanjing Normal University.

Dr Zhang teaches the history of the United States and English-Chinese translation. She was awarded a scholarship by Nanjing Normal University for doing research at Harvard Divinity school, and finished her postdoctoral project “The Secularization of the New England Puritan Society” in 2012. She is the writer of American Genes---Secularization of the Puritan Society in New England, Central Compilation & Translation Press, 2016. As a co-author, she wrote part of the book: Mansu Qian, ed., A Documentary History of American Civilization, Central Compilation & Translation Press, 2014. She is presently working on her second monograph, tentatively entitled "Old World, New World."
