Research topic: Making the Modern First Lady: The Development of the Office of the First Lady from 1963- 1981

I completed my undergraduate degree in English Literature and History at the University of Exeter, before undertaking my master’s degree at UCL, achieving a distinction in US Studies under the supervision of Professor Iwan Morgan. I was part of the conference team for UCL Institute of the Americas Research Network in 2019, and have presented papers on First Lady campaigning, and Wilma Rudolph and the 1960 Rome Olympics at the HOTCUS 2020 Postgraduate Conference and 2021 Winter Symposium. I convened the American History Graduate Seminar in Trinity 2021, and I now coordinate the American History Research Seminar at the RAI. My upcoming publications include a book chapter in Gambrell and Burns’ volume Sports and the American Presidency, published by Edinburgh University Press, and a journal article on the gifting of animals in diplomatic exchange in the White House Historical Association Quarterly.
