D.Phil. in English

My doctoral thesis, '"Starving for Images": Visual Objects in the Poetry of Robert Lowell, John Berryman and Adrienne Rich, 1964-1981', considers the role of mental image formation and dreaming in post-war, American poetry. I am considering, broadly, the relationship between ekphrasis and so-called "confessional" poetry. Before joining the English Faculty at Oxford, I completed an M.Sc. in Medical Humanities at Kings College London.
