Aisha Djelid shortlisted for a Royal Historical Society Early Career Article Prize

The RAI congratulates Aisha Djelid on being shortlisted for a Royal Historical Society Early Career Article Prize, 2025.

This prize is awarded for an article or essay based on original historical research – by a doctoral candidate or an early career historian within three years of being awarded a doctorate – published in a journal or an edited collection of essays.

Aisha has been shortlisted for her article, “The master whished to reproduce”: Slavery, Forced Intimacy, and Enslavers’ Interference in Sexual Relationships in the Antebellum South, 1808–1861′.   

We would also like to congratulate Aisha on her new appointment – from September 2025 Aisha will be the new Broadbent Career Development Fellow in American History at the RAI.
