Looking back on the life and work of Toni Morrison

The celebrated writer Toni Morrison (1931-2019) died this week. She won international acclaim for her work as a novelist, essayist, and teacher, receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.

RAI Senior Research Fellow Tessa Roynon, who has published two books and numerous articles on Toni Morrison, has surveyed her life and legacy for The Conversation.

She has also reflected upon Morrison's work on BBC Radio 4's weekly obituary programme, 'The Last Word'.
