RAI's Kathryn Olivarius awarded Past and Present Fellowship at the Institute of Historical Research

The RAI congratulates Kathryn Olivarius on gaining a two-year Past & Present Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London.

During her fellowship Kathryn will develop her doctoral thesis, on yellow fever and capitalism in the Deep South, for publication as well as pursuing new projects. These include a study of lower- and middle-class women in the urban Deep South, the dual development of life insurance and slave insurance in the mid-nineteenth century, and boosterism in the western United States.

She holds a B.A. in History from Yale University and a M.St. in U.S. History from the University of Oxford, where she is currently completing her D.Phil.
