The Present and Future of US Politics: Trump 2.0 and American Foreign Policy

As the second Trump administration approaches its halfway point, this seminar series looks beyond the headlines to examine ongoing developments in US politics. We consider the present and future of American democracy and government and ask: what is at stake in 2026 and the midterm elections?

Each seminar will begin with a short presentation by an expert, followed by discussion and questions. Everyone with an interest in US politics is welcome. A sandwich lunch will be provided on a first come first serve basis.​​​​​​

Week 1: Trump 2.0, American Foreign Policy, and the Midterm Elections

Observers expected President Trump’s second administration to be a geopolitical shock.  It has exceeded those expectations.  As the U.S. electorate prepares to render at least a partial/interim assessment on the Administration’s performance, the time is ripe for a reassessment of the second and third order effects of U.S. foreign policy in its present form.
