Maya Sternthal is a MPhil Candidate in Development Studies with membership at Green Templeton College. Her research focuses on how private American philanthropic foundations act as norm entrepreneurs in efforts to address global climate action. Maya holds a Honours BA in Diaspora and Transnational Studies from the University of Toronto where she assisted in research on the geopolitics of the lithium mining industry for green energy transitions, and the interplay between morality and bureaucracy at the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Broadly, she is interested in the history of migration, social history, climate policy, and the ethics of philanthropy.
