A.J. Hudson

Before coming to Oxford to read for a DPhil in Geography & Environment, AJ was a high school science teacher and a climate justice activist in Brooklyn, New York. AJ obtained his bachelor's degree from Columbia University and his master's degree in environmental science from Yale University with a thesis focusing on the history of environmental justice in Puerto Rico. He is also one of the authors of the recent Routledge history textbook on Environmental Justice in North America. Even while at Oxford, he still works remotely with the Caribbean diaspora of New York City, helping several non-profit community organizations create a more equitable environment in Brooklyn and marshal resources from the US diasporic communities to the Caribbean islands for disaster recovery and climate resilience. He is currently studying the environmental and social impacts of mainland immigration of US citizens to the American territories.
