Andrew Dilts

I am in my first year of the MPhil in International Relations in St Catherine’s College at the University of Oxford. Originally from northern Kentucky, I graduated from Harvard University in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in history and government. My undergraduate thesis explored the origins of America’s war in Vietnam under President John F. Kennedy, focusing on the role of the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research and the intersection of intelligence analysis and policy making. Through research assistantships with Professor Fredrik Logevall and Professor Joshua Kertzer, I have also studied the wider history of U.S. foreign policy and the relationship between American presidents and their advisers in foreign policy decision-making across the Cold War. In addition to these subjects, I am studying the history and present dynamics of U.S.-China relations, the intersection of critical technologies and geopolitics, and the evolution of international order since 1989.
