Aryemis Brown

Captain Aryemis Brown of the United States Space Force is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in International Relations at the University of Oxford. A distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he earned a B.S. in Legal Studies and Humanities with minors in Religious Studies and Philosophy.

His research focuses on global security, international peace, and emerging technologies. He was recently recognized for his MPhil thesis on international norms and has contributed to a NATO panel on space deterrence.

At the core of his work lies a central question: Why does a global hegemon like the United States voluntarily restrain itself despite overwhelming power? Aryemis explores this through an interdisciplinary lens that includes international law, moral philosophy, regulatory economics, political history, military strategy, and orbital mechanics.

He is also a participant in the Oxford Character Project and specializes in strategic studies, U.S. foreign policy, and qualitative research methods.
