Baruch Gilinsky

D.Phil. in History

Baruch Gilinsky studied History at Merton College, Oxford, before doing the MSt in US History at Oxford. Before starting his DPhil, he worked in the youth sector, providing vital community spaces for young people during the Coronavirus pandemic. He studies the American West, its cities, and their use (and abuse) of physical space, the natural and built environments, and of natural resources. He is interested in questions around urban growth - not only how cities grow but why, exploring the ways in which urban expansion forms part of the broader political and environmental history of the American West and the United States.
