Brittany Gittus

I received my first-class undergraduate degree in History and Sociology from the University of Tasmania in 2020, before working as a Policy Analyst for the Department of Premier and Cabinet Tasmania. In 2023 I received my Master of Studies in Modern European History from the University of Oxford. My Doctor of Philosophy, which I began in 2023, asks why and in what manner geopolitical challenges of the 1930s forced multilateral relations to develop beyond the auspices of the League of Nations. This project asks: how far, and in what ways, these alternative sites strengthened or undermined the League. The role of the United States in facilitating the development of multilateral relations beyond the League of Nations is a central concern of my research.
