Louisa is a Chartered Accountant specialising in the audit of UK public sector entities including NHS bodies, universities and councils.
Previously she was an adjunct lecturer in History and Political Science at the London campus of Syracuse University. Â She completed a DPhil in US History in 2017.
At the RAI, Louisa will be writing about the development of American political science as an academic discipline during the twentieth century. She is interested in how social science evolved in the American academy, a process that was spurred by the rise of the modern American research university whilst simultaneously shaped by a political culture that could be dismissive of experts and expertise. She is also interested in the development of American politics and government in these years and her research places the ideas of political scientists in the context of national crises, political change and anxieties about American democracy.
