I am a first-year DPhil student at Wolfson College, Oxford in the Department of Theology and Religion. I focus on the history of American religion during the early Cold War. In particular, I am studying America’s civil religion which was wielded as an ideological weapon to combat Soviet Communism by intellectuals within the Truman and Eisenhower Administrations. My secondary interest is the development of mysticism during the English Civil War and its influence on American social and religious movements. I earned my MA in Historical Theology from Westminster Seminary California and my BA in Literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Before my studies I spent ten years in the US Marine Corps and the Foreign Service.
