Sophie is a MPhil candidate in International Relations. Her research examines how foreign aid conditionalities affected local inclusion in peacebuilding in Afghanistan, focusing on US-led reconciliation and development projects. In the year prior to her Mphil, Sophie was a member of the FAIR project at the Peace Research Institute Oslo, which looks at the role of ethics in peace negotiations and mediation. She has also interned for former CNN Senior International Correspondent Arwa Damon, researching the impact of great power competition on Syrian efforts toward self-determination.
