Richard Carwardine, Jay Sexton, and Ann Schofield elected Distinguished Fellows of the RAI

The Rothermere American Institute is pleased to announce that Richard Carwardine, Jay Sexton, and Ann Schofield have been elected to Distinguished Fellowships. The status of Distinguished Fellow of the RAI is awarded in recognition of exceptional contribution to the intellectual life of the Institute and distinction in academic, professional or public life.

Richard Carwardine is Rhodes Professor of American History Emeritus and former President of Corpus Christi College. His research is concerned with nineteenth-century American politics and religion, and with Abraham Lincoln in particular.

Jay Sexton served as Director of the RAI between August 2015 and July 2016. After several years as Field Fellow and Tutor in History at Corpus Christi College, he will now take up a chair in U.S. History at the University of Missouri.

Ann Schofield is Professor of Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Kansas. She held Senior and Vacation Visiting Research Fellowships at the RAI and has maintained a long-standing involvement in the Institute's academic programme and intellectual life.
